An Eligible Sponsor

While the title of this post reads like a novel, it alludes to the letter Jonathan and I received in the mail this morning.  The Consulate General of Canada has informed us that I am eligible to sponsor Jonathan as a Permanent Resident.  Jonathan’s portion of the immigration paperwork was sent to Buffalo on December 21.  Hopefully that means smooth sailing ahead.

We are having a great week in Toronto.  Please check back after the New Year to hear all about it!

Happy New Year everyone!

Nicole, Jesse and Ethan are all doing well :)

On hearing about Ethan’s arrival this morning, my boss Stephen sent me this:

The boy’s name Ethan is pronounced EE-than. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is “firmness, steadfastness, constancy.” From Eitan. Biblical: a man of Israel noted for his wisdom. American patriot Ethan Allen was a famous Revolutionary War leader. Actor Ethan Hawke….

Alexander is in memory of Nicole’s great-grandmother Alexandra.

Happy Hanukkah!!!

Filed under: Us — From Lesley at 12:43 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2006

I went to NYC on Friday night to spend Hannukah with my hubby.  Although this was our second Hanukkah together, this year was great, I was able to spend the weekend with Jonathan and receive all my gifts on the first night of Hanukkah, size up the gifts….and then give him his gifts this weekend.  He will be coming to Toronto on Saturday, December 23.  He did really well so he will be getting lots of presents on his arrival :) .

As part of our Hanukkah weekend together, I really wanted to see Wicked on Broadway but Jonathan wasn’t able to get tickets last minute so we decided to wait in line 2.5 hours before the show on Saturday for the Lottery tickets.  They hold 28 front-row seats for $25 each for the lucky winners.  My name was the second last name called so were part of the lucky winners group to see the 2:00 matinee.  A great surprise was that Ana Gasteyer of Saturday Night Live fame is performing as Elphaba until January 13, 2007.  Jonathan really enjoyed the show and started memorizing the words to all the songs.  Stay tuned for a New Year’s Eve performance.

On Saturday night we went to a Mason’s event and then met up with our friends Carolyn and Andrew.  I really enjoyed meeting the newest Mason Members and hope to see them all soon.

Sunday was a continuation of our Hanukkah celebration with the family (Nicole, Jesse, Matthew, Cynthia, Rona, Brian, Hudson and Neo were all there).  It was our last family meet-up before Ethan’s arrival which occurred this morning at 8:00 a.m.  Congrats to the new parents on the safe arrival of Ethan Alexander.

The Daily News Story

Lesley and I were contacted by Michelle Megna of the Daily News. She is responsible for the interesting Wedding Stories in the Sunday Now section of the Daily News. Lesley answered the questions and I submitted the photo. It was a surprise for my mom who reads this section every weekend. What I didn’t expect was the size of the story. When I opened the paper, there we were, on an entire page! Lesley did a great job with the questions and the photo came out great!

Daily News Now

The article reads:

For Lesley Feldman, 35, a legal assistant and realtor, and Jonathan Greenwald, 33, a manager at IBM who is also a passionate photographer, it was love at first click. In November 2005, each checked the box at the online dating site Jdate indicating they’d be a good match, and it turns out, they were right. Lesley, however, lives in Toronto. “I came down to NYC for one of his photo exhibits,” she said, “and we got along great. We’d only been online for two weeks, but we just hit it off right away.”

Jonathan, who lives in Brooklyn, but is planning to move North, popped the question last July, on his photoblog, post for the day a picture of the ring along with a strip of pictures of the couple from a photo booth. “He did get down on his knee when he came up to Toronto,” said Lesley. Wearing a Paloma Blanca gown, Lesley was walked down the aisle with both her parents. The couple celebrated with 95 guests at Giando on the Water. They danced to “Somebody,” by Depeche Mode. They plan to honeymoon in Mexico.

Ethan Alexander [T-13 Days]

My brother Jesse and his wife Nicole are expecting their first child.  Ethan Alexander is due on December 21st and we are so excited to see what he looks like; or rather, who he looks like.  They are going for one more sonogram before Ethan will be welcomed into this world, but we wanted to show these amazing 4-D images because they are too cool.
